Rudy Autio: The River is Wide
Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art in Great Falls, Montana, celebrates the life and
work of a true Montana treasure, Rudy
Autio, who died on June 20, 2007, with an exhibition, Rudy Autio: The River is Wide. The Square's exhibition will include
prints, drawings and the large sculptural vessels for which Rudy is best known, including Villanelle and Mime, a vessel and plate from the Missoula Art Museum Collections.
As an acknowledgement of Rudy's contributions to the Arts in Montana, The
Square's exhibition will include work from many of the collecting institutions
throughout the state that have benefited from the generosity of one of Montana's
pre-eminent art patrons and philanthropists, Miriam Sample of Billings, Montana.
Join us at the museum to see for yourself why Rudy is considered to be one of
the dominant forces that shaped the course of Contemporary ceramics.
This exhibition is curated by Bob Durden of PGSMOA and funded by Miriam Sample of Billings, Montana.
