Sean Chandler: New Works

May 7 2021 - August 14 2021

The exhibition is Chandler’s first solo exhibition in Montana and the first significant exhibition in years. The exhibition will be featured in the Frost Gallery, a space dedicated to perpetually exhibiting contemporary Native artists. Chandler (Aaniiih/Gros Ventre, born 1972) put his promising artistic career on hold to respond to a need for leadership in his community. He earned an EdD in educational leadership and MA in Native Studies while employed as Director of American Indian Studies at Aaniiih Nakoda College in Fort Belknap Agency in Harlem, Montana. Only recently was he able to return to creating artwork and recently joined the Bozeman-based artist collective Paintallica. He has received awards and exhibited at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Ariz, and the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, IN, with work collected by the Museum of Natural History in Paris and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts Museum, Minn.
