First Friday: Dagny Walton

March 7

5:00 - 8:00

Join exhibiting artist Dagny Walton for a thought-provoking evening at the Missoula Art Museum's First Friday Event. The reception kicks off at 5:00 PM, with an artist talk from 5:30-6:00 PM, where Walton will delve into her work and the themes explored in her exhibition, This Land is Haunted!

Walton’s exhibit addresses her complex relationship with the Western landscape, blending personal reflection with broader historical and cultural narratives. This Land is Haunted! is a meditation on the haunting nature of the American West, from colonial violence to the current ecological crises. The cowboy figure, a symbol of the West, is reimagined as a tragic figure caught in a landscape that is spiritually and morally awake. Through her work, Walton raises questions about heroism, violence, and the legacy of colonization.

In addition to Walton's powerful show, explore other exhibitions, including Women's Work and  Jason Elliott Clark’s Free Land.

Don't miss this opportunity to engage with cutting-edge art and thought-provoking themes.
