Tours
Hour-long tours are led by either trained docents or MAM staff. Groups sizes should be held to 30 participants or less. In addition to free Saturday tours, MAM offers free guided tours of its galleries to school groups, community organizations, and the public, when requested in advance. Pre-visit materials and information will be sent upon request.
Tours at MAM are inquiry-based, meaning that they are led with a more conversational approach, and steered by visitors just as decidedly as by docents.
Self-Guided Tours
You and your group are also welcome to tour the museum informally. In each exhibition you will find materials to inform your experience. These materials include printed guides, Engage-By-Cell QR codes that link to brief artist statements, and the interpretive wall texts. If schedules allow, a Visitor Educator may be available to support your group.
Saturday Tours
MAM staff provide free, weekly tours of the galleries on Saturdays at 11:00 AM. The Saturday tours are the same as the other varieties of tours at MAM in their overall direction, but no two will be the same as they will be shaped by your questions and interests!
Scheduling a Tour for Schools, Groups, and Organizations
To schedule a tour, especially if your group will include more than 15 individuals, please email Kay Grissom-Kiely, Curator of Education. We are a small staff, and ample notice allows us to provide support. Two weeks' notice is requested for scheduling a tour.
Additionally, for education related inquiries, see our Educational Programs to find a curriculum that your students can sign up for.
Please note: MAM strives to accommodate all requests, but due to high volume, we may not have enough staff and volunteer capacity to do so.
MAM is ADA accessible and has a wheelchair for public use.
