March First Friday: Tailyr Irvine

March 6

5:00 - 7:00 PM

Join the Missoula Art Museum for the First Friday opening of Beyond Bison: Returning Land to the Original Stewards by Tailyr Irvine, a Salish and Kootenai journalist and photographer raised on the Flathead Indian Reservation. The evening features live music by Elephant Gerald and marks the opening of a powerful exhibition exploring land, stewardship, and Indigenous sovereignty. Through photographs of the Bison Range under tribal management alongside images of tribal members practicing land-based traditions, Irvine highlights the deep connections between people, place, and cultural responsibility. Her work offers a thoughtful reflection on history, resilience, and the ongoing commitment to caring for Indigenous lands. Free and open to the public.
