Join exhibiting artist Willem Volkersz for complimentary coffee and pastries at MAM. Brunch reception will be followed by a panel discussion of Volkersz's work with Bonnie Lang Malcolmson and Brandon Reintjes. Willem Volkersz: The View From Here: A 25-Year Retrospective is open through June 24. The Montana-based artist was a pioneer in the use of neon in art and is known for his installations featuring neon, found objects, and massive paint-by-number-style paintings. Volkersz came to the United States from Holland in 1953, after the devastation of World War II. As a teenager, he began hitchhiking and driving throughout the American West, camera in hand. He has often said that he has an "immigrant’s fascination with America."
