David Nash: Crack & Warp Column

March 15 2010 - August 31 2010

MAM is very excited to be hosting a monumental work by British sculptor David Nash. Crack & Warp Column is one of many large scale works that Nash is known to create. Nash uses tools like chainsaws and torches to make his mark and to bring his vision out of huge pieces of fallen timber; in this case red gum eucalyptus. Nash brings the natural world into the gallery.

The viewer can experience the senses that relate to nature, such as sound and scent, while feeling the presence and majesty of a once-living entity. It isn't often that Missoula gets to host work from such a well-known international contemporary artist like David Nash. MAM encourages the entire community to take advantage of such an opportunity and come to enjoy this work of contemporary art.
